I don't know where this countdown is, but for Template:IRC_text I'm in
favor of changing the first paragraph from:

> Join the Free Software Foundation on Friday May 01 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM EDT
> for the Free Software Directory IRC meetings, in the #fsf Freenode or the
> #fsd HackInt channel! (IRC rules | IRC clients)

To this:

----cut-here----------------------------------------------------------
Join the Free Software Foundation each Friday, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM EDT
for the Free Software Directory IRC meetings, in the #fsf Freenode or
the #fsd HackInt channel! (IRC rules | IRC clients)
----cut-here----------------------------------------------------------

I'm also ignoring the query I just made regarding the purpose of
irc://irc.hackint.org/#fsd without a bot to bridge both channels so as
to keep the discussions happening.

As far as I can tell, the change of text related to date and time would
allow to simplify the logic of the template so as to use local server
time (assuming it's timezone is also configured correctly for MediaWiki).
