Alan Mulally, chairman and chief executive officer of Boeing Commerical Airplanes announced Boeing will shelve its plans for a giant 747X and focus instead on developing a radically new jetliner, shown in thhis drawing, in Renton, Wash. on Thursday, March 29, 2001.
