Hello,
An additional hardware option for GNUradio is the R2 receiver. There has
been successful attempts to use the R2 with DSP (hardware based). The
advantage of the R2 design are:
- High performance
- Low number of external components
- Coverage from LF to microwave
- Can make use of a standard computer sound card
One big disadvantage I see is the bandwidth when using the sound card
interface (44.1 kHz sampling rate). But for those of us mainly interested
in relatively narrow band signals, a standard sound card will be
satisfactory.
An article describing some experiments with the R2 and DSP can be found at
http://www.wwc.edu/~frohro/R2_DSP/Motorola_DSP_Receiver.html
SETI is also using the R2 for its hidrogen line monitoring. Details can be
found at
http://www.setileague.org/hardware/r2_seti.htm
Best regards,
