Hi Eric --The machine in question is running Debian testing (though I haven't done the latest big update that switches over to the new compiler; I have a suspicion that may break many things and wanted to let it stabilize a bit first). The kernel is 2.4.20 (full 'uname -a' below). The machine, FWIW, is an IBM Thinkpad 390X with 500MHz PIII and 256MB RAM.

This seems like it could be related to the note in the README file about difficulty compiling ppio.c, but my /usr/include/sys/io.h file doesn't have the double-colon error mentioned there. Output of "make", starting after the error, is below. Any suggestions? Thanks and 73, JohnHmmm, I'll check this out. On what system (OS and version) did this occur? $ uname -a In the mean time, I suggest that you grab the version in CVS and give that a try. Eric
