I'm trying to find a book or set of books that would be a good basis for
building an RF front end.

Here are some of the books i have stumbled upon...

The ARRL Handbook for radio communications

The ARRL UHF/Microwave Experimenter's Manual

Complete Wireless Design
(comes with PUFF 2.1, an RF/ Microwave circuit simulator)
  Cotter W. Sayre

High Frequency and Microwave Engineering
(comes with PUFF 2.1, an RF/ Microwave circuit simulator)
  Ed da Silva

Introduction to Radio Frequency Design (Radio Amateur's Library, Publication
No. 191.)
  W. H. Hayward

Radio Engineering for Wireless Communication and Sensor Applications
  Antti V. Raisanen, Arto Lehto

Any suggestions?
