Ekko, using Putty isn't really hard, compared to doing SDR; it has solid copy and paste functionality. http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/0.66/htmldoc/ Also, you should at this point really start using a Linux on your host PC. If you're developing C++ for the E310, you should really be starting to use the SDK, which works under linux. This makes twice as much sense as you're currently having trouble using the linux system on the E310 -- you will need to get used to linux, and that's much easier if you do it with a modern Linux distribution on your PC.
