Dear GNU Radio Community,
----
TL;DR:
Free Workshop on ML for high-speed comms with a focus topic on new, neuromorphic
architectures and how to learn in these. Also, ML for highest-rate comms. Register!
http://www.workshop-neucos.com/
----
The institute I work at (CEL at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology) organizes a
(remote) 1-day workshop; as I know a lot of you are on the math-y and side of Neural
processing of signals, I thought it'd be a good idea to share with you:
The titular topic is of course doing neuromorphic processing (not just the "classical"
ANNs!) to signals, but you'll find in the schedule that there's also quite a few quite
interesting talks on more generally ANN(DNN) / numerical optimization problems and
approaches from high-speed communications.
We found investigation of alternative architectures for neural learning to be rewarding -
so this might also be of interest for you, if your focus is on ML architectures beyond DNNs.
Registration is free, and we're striving to make this an interactive thing.
I'm attaching Prof. Schmalen's invitation below; note that in the meantime, we've decided
to not do any of this in-person, which is both in line with Covid necessities and
regulations, as well as allowing us to focus on one mode of participation.
If there's any questions, do reach out, please!
Best regards,
Marcus Müller

We are delighted to announce the first workshop on Neuromorphic High-Speed Communications
(NeuCos) (http://www.workshop-neucos.com/ ) which will take place on the 9th of December
2021 in Karlsruhe at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), jointly organized with
the Technical University of Eindhoven (TU/e).
In recent years, a lot of progress have been made on harnessing machine learning methods
for revolutionizing the way we communicate. However, as conventional semiconductor
technology is reaching its capacity and miniaturization limits, attention has been shifted
towards implementing learning algorithms using alternative designs based on neuromorphic
computing to power the next generation intelligent communication systems.
The NeuCos workshop aims at exploring the latest advancements in the application of
machine learning and neuromorphic computing in designing high speed, energy efficient
communication systems.
If you are interested in participating at the workshop, registration is free of charge
(please see http://www.workshop-neucos.com/ for more details on registration).
The workshop will allow in-presence participation as well as virtual participation via
Zoom. In-presence participants are required to present a valid vaccination certificate.
The Zoom link of the workshop will be distributed to all registered participants shortly
before the workshop.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and a quite dynamic situation in Germany, we will be
closely monitoring the situation and adjust the format of the workshop, if this should
become necessary.
We look forward to welcoming you at NeuCos 2021!
Please forward this invitation to students and post-docs in your group that are
potentially interested in participating at this workshop.
