Just a quick test on my GNU/Linux (Debian) box:

When building I had to remove -lxpg4 since I don't know what it is and StepBox seems to function without it :)

Hi,

This is the first release of StepBox, yet another GNUstep window manager, and it works. :) It is rewritten from hackedbox 0.8 (http://scrudgeware.org/projects/Hackedbox), which is a stripped version of blackbox (http://blackboxwm.sourceforge.net/) without toolbar and slit.

You can get it at http://www.people.virginia.edu/~yc2w/GNUstep/programs/StepBox-v1.tar.gz

Because it is rewritten from the hackedbox configured on FreeBSD,
it might not work for you due to the external dependency and headers.
Otherwise, it should work as hackedbox with some potential bugs.
Styles and customed menu work, but are disabled now.
If you have problems compiling it and want to investigate,
the StepBox/hackedbox/ contains the original source code which works on FreeBSD.
Makefile and config.h in it may help.

There is some issue about the focus of GNUstep menu.
If anyone can point out how WindowMaker handle this issue, it will help a lot. Now, when other windows get the focus, the GNUstep menu disappear due to losing focus.

 Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Features are open to discuss, but I tend to make it small.
I even consider to remove the style support.
Some features of GWorkspace can move to StepBox, such as Fiend,
since I don't use file manager a lot, but want a dock support.
Anyway, everything is open to discuss.

 Have fun
