Any opinion or experience with that?
GNUstep works. KDE (apparently, never tried myself) works.
Only on PPC from what I know
My Darwin/x86 machine that runs GNUstep would beg to differ. (it also
used to have KDE btw) It was built from CVS around Jan 22ish. I would
test to see if current CVS builds, but there was a fire at my place and
I am currently living in a hotel and the machine is in storage. But it
*should* build! Just mind the README.Darwin.
Afterstep I
have no experience with however for a NeXT-esque window manager try
WindowMaker...although I seem to remember there's a bug with
_XSetLocale
or a similar symbol being unresolved.
Both work well on Darwin-x86, GNU-Darwin has binary packages for that,
as well as GNOME (http://www.gnu-darwin.org)
The original poster mentioned DarwinPorts, so I will note that there is
also a DarwinPort for WindowMaker that works fine on Darwin/x86
Can't remember right now but when
I get back to my Darwin PC I'll send some patches to whoever would
like
I certainly would like that ! My experiences on 10.3 were mostly
frustrating
and I did not have much time to look at this lately
(a DarwinPort file?).
Only PPC again I'm afraid
As far as a GNUstep DarwinPort, last I checked there was one for Mac OS
X (not Darwin ppc, but OS X) and it was only for gnustep-make
