Color wells?

Dear GNUsteppers,

I'm clearly missing something in terms of using Gorm's color wells. 
I've dropped some on some dialogue's. But they don't seem to be 
activated. I click on them and nothing happens. What do I need to do 
to have the wells pop up the color picker?
