All,I have taken the liberty of contacting the GNUspeech folks concerning the speech synthesis software that was contributed to the FSF (originally for NeXTSTEP) a number of years ago. Little did I know that they have beenworking on porting GNUspeech to Mac OS X.
I didn't know that either. I talked to them over a year ago, and even helped port the code from NeXTStep to OpenStep (it still appears that I have the last commit in the repository). Then they sort-of said that they didn't have anyone who knew Objective-C and thought it would be better just to rewrite it in C++ or something. And then all development seemed to stop...
It appears they also claim that GNUstep isn't complete enough compared to NeXTStep/OpenStep. Completely false though - I told them that it was, and that was almost two years ago.
