I would cancel this command :o)
That's the command I use whenever I have to install kernel upgrades. It isn't so evil! :-D

What does 'apt-get upgrade' gives you ?

Here you are:
The following packages have been kept back:
  affiche.app agenda.app easydiff.app gnustep-back0.24-cairo gnustep-base-runtime gnustep-gpbs gnustep-gui-common gnustep-gui-runtime gorm.app
  gworkspace.app laternamagica.app libdbuskit0 libgnustep-base-dev libgnustep-base1.24 libgnustep-corebase0 libgnustep-corebase0-dev
  libgnustep-gui-dev libgnustep-gui0.24 libgnustep-performance0 libiconkit0 libpopplerkit0 projectcenter.app systempreferences.app terminal.app
  textedit.app vindaloo.app zipper.app
The following packages will be upgraded:
  gnustep-back-common gnustep-back0.24 gnustep-base-common gnustep-common gnustep-make gworkspace-apps-wrappers libaddresses0 libobjcgs
  libobjcgs-dev renaissance-doc
10 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 27 not upgraded.
