    Isn't this a feature?  Overlays are supposed to be used for features
    that are (1) display-oriented, i.e. they don't change the buffer
    contents; and (2) are more-or-less automatically regenerated from the
    displayed text.

    If my understanding is correct, then overlays should not be undone.

That is how i see it.
