There are hooks in CVS like the 'commitinfo script' which
we might be able to customize to sending notifications
to external maintainers.
It sounds like that is more work than using the script that sends the
diff notifications.
I see one way to make it easy, perhaps. We could create local mail
aliases for all these people, giving them alias names
emacs-notify-foo, emacs-notify-bar, and so on. Those aliases would
surely not conflict with any existing ones. So we could generate the
whole list of aliases at once, and the savannah hackers could install
that all at once.
I think most of these external maintainers would rather get the whole
diffs rather than use CVS to see what changed. Most of them don't use
Savannah currently. But can we arrange to mail them the log entries
as well as the diffs?
