How about _WIDTH vs _PIXEL_WIDTH instead of _CANON_WIDTH vs
_PIXEL_WIDTH?  Doesn't it make the required change smaller?
Lisp APIs have that convention (e.g. frame-width vs
frame-pixel-width).
