Here are three schemes.
AFAICS, all schemes are abandoning the idea of protecting (or at least
warning) the user against potentially dangerous but correctly named
image files; is that so?
foo.c really IS a jpeg file, it might (?) be more correct to
display it as a jpeg file; this doesn't do that.
It'd be nice to be able to configure that.
Personally, I think scheme 2 may be a good compromise.
I also like 2. Perhaps whether activate auto-detection or not could be
a user option.
