Well, I've never had a use for them in practice - and one of the
features of CUA rectangles is that the cursor is INSIDE one of the
rectangle corners -- namely the corner which you expand by moving the
cursor.
Such an inconsistency between two ways of marking a rectangle seems
really bad. At present, since one of them is "just an emulation",
perhaps the inconsistency is not important. But if both of them were
part of recommended Emacs interfaces, the inconsistency would be
glaring.
