Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) Emacs/23.0.60 (gnu/linux) |
Please write in English if possible, because the Emacs maintainers
usually do not have translators to read other languages for them.
Your bug report will be posted to the address@hidden mailing list.
Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:
Hello,
please Cc: me, I'm not subscribed to the list.
With the latest emacs-snapshot upgrade on Debian, gnus started marking
all the mails in my IMAP INBOX folder as read. I reported this as a
regression because I didn't change anything WRT my gnus configuration
and downgrading to emacs-snapshot_1:20080215-1~etch1 removed the bug.
I tested different times, with the same results:
- quit gnus and emacs
- through webmail, move all my IMAP INBOX mails to another folder, mark
them as unread and move them back to INBOX
- launch emacs and gnus
- the first time gnus starts, the group summary shows the correct total
number of the unread messages in my IMAP INBOX folder
- enter and exit the IMAP INBOX group
- M-x gnus-group-get-new-news and now the IMAP INBOX group has 0 unread
mails
- C-u M-x gnus-group-get-new-news doesn't show the read mails either
I suspected a specific problem with my configuration, since I tested a
minimal .gnus (simply setting `gnus-select-method') with another clean
account on the same box and there's no bug there. However, reading
lisp/gnus/ChangeLog didn't show me any relevant change.
After some debugging, I found that simply disabling the gnus agent or
wiping ~/News/agent/ solved the problem. More debugging revealed that
another solution was calling `gnus-agent-expire'. Again, I don't know
what changed with emacs-snapshot_1:20080307-1 and why previous versions
(including 20080215-1~etch1) didn't spot this.
Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
`bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file
/usr/share/emacs/23.0.60/etc/DEBUG for instructions.
