Sorry for mixing things up. It was clearly a mistake by my to mention technical details at all at this stage. Back to the problem:
- Emacs is looping in a timer (fontification). There is no way to stop it from looping that I can think of. I can't even stop Emacs.
The basic problem to solve is really to stop Emacs from looping in the timer. I think there should be a way to do that. I can't see that there is any now. Am I wrong?
(If there is a way to stop Emacs from looping then I think that should be used when exiting Emacs, but I leave that out for now since it seemed difficult to have a reasonable discussion otherwise.)
