They may, but I suspect they can't actually say why...

The Emacs' position, whether one agrees with it or not, is actually
based on some reasoning.

[Thank god at least some of the hoary old artifacts of the original
macintosh GUI have been revised in recent years, e.g. fixed-size scroll
thumbs!]
