Thanks, I missed this earlier discussoin (was it on emacs-devel as well
as on the debug?)

I take responsibility for picking C-s and C-r (I think it was me,
all those years ago).  I'd like to still keep them, so as long as they
can be added back in with an easy hook, that would be okay.
