Actually, it probably isn't.

Emacs with a properly set up nxml or psgml (not sure if psgml can be
convinced to support newer DocBooken, but if it can, psgml actually has
better tree-navigation than nxml) is a great tool for editing DocBook.

And DocBook is a great basis for creating good presentations in various
formats.  Lots of good, free, tool support.

(But I've given up trying to convince people that DB is the way of the
future... which means it probably isn't... (not just because of me, but
because the way the wind blows))
