There is a distinction that remains even for POSIX: if /a/b is a symlink to a directory, /a/b/ refers to the directory. But this only matters in a few cases like lstat(2), since of course most things will treat /a/b as the target anyway. Davis -- This product is sold by volume, not by mass. If it appears too dense or too sparse, it is because mass-energy conversion has occurred during shipping.
