When you say it is "annoying", that describes your feelings. I can't
argue with your feelings, but to get annoyed by a little work that
one needs to do at most twice in a lifetime seems to me excessive.
On the other hand, saying it is "fruitless" and "useless" is simply
incorrect. It helps us enforce the GNU GPL.

Our policy of requiring copyright assignments is entirely a practical
matter -- to help us enforce the GPL.
