What a wonderful world that would be! But it's not the world we live in. Even Emacs misdisplays many of these characters now. And other tools that I routinely use (Firefox, Thunderbird, Gnome terminal) are even worse. We can't reasonably assume that confusable characters will be displayed nicely everywhere, not even five or ten years from now.
