I think it's generally better solution thah what I suggested, but:

- Without reverting the change in the commit mentioned in the subject, 
the situation for CC Mode will be no better.
- If Alan wanted to improve said situation, and if CC Mode still has a 
version distributed separately for previous versions of Emacs, my change 
would be better for it.

The two patches could coexist, though. Despite being largely redundant.
