No, too cumbersome.

That variable already exists, but we can't expect people to type
(let ((inhibit-field-text-motion t)) (line-beginning-position)) all over
the place.

Anyway, back to the naming issue -- `pos-eol' would also be short and
snappy...  or `eol-pos'?  Hm.
