It is not a good idea to replace '.emacs' with "init file", when the
latter is not explained anywhere in the FAQ. This is a FAQ, which
assumes a very confused reader, so relying on their knowledge in this
matter is not recommended.
If you want to make such a change, please add a section about what is
an init file and how Emacs looks for it, and add a cross-reference to
there whenever "init file" is mentioned.
It could be that a cross-reference to "Setting up a customization
file" is enough, although that section is about something else, and
this question is only answered there at the end (and the text in that
last part is nowadays outdated).
