Cannot reproduce either problem: I just did a successful git pull
and I also did a LaTeX export successfully.

Org-mode version 7.6 (release_7.6.57.g462c0d)
GNU Emacs 24.0.50.2 (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.22.0) of 
2011-07-05
