OK. I am attaching the patched up version for you to try.

1. Put it somewhere that is NOT in your load-path.
2. M-x load-file RET /path/to/patched-up-package.el RET
3. Proceed with usual installation.
4. Once you are happy with the patch you can copy it to load-path 
5. Remember to delete the patch once you upgrade your Emacs
