[O] \vert not converted to | when org-table-export applied

Hi,

I try to export a table with \vert symbol  embedded
in it to a tab separated file  by use of  org-table-export:

| A\vert B | C |
|        1 | 2 |
|        3 | 4 |


but the \vert in the first line is not converted to '|'
as shown here:

A\vert B        C
1       2
3       4


Is this a bug or am I missing  something?
