[O] can't get table output when running r babel

Hi there, 

I can't seem to get a table output from running this toy example:

   #+HEADER: :results value

    #+BEGIN_SRC R

      data <- data.frame(list(a=c(1,2,3), b=c(4,5,6)))

      data

    #+END_SRC

    #+RESULTS:

The problem seems to be 

org-babel-insert-result: Wrong type argument: markerp, nil

I see that the value of org-field-marker is nil in org-table.el. 

I am using this version of org:

Org mode version 9.1.13 (9.1.13-elpa @ /home/user/.emacs.d/elpa/org-20180806/)

If anyone could advise it'd be great.
