Macro definitions do not allow spaces.
You can try something like:
#+MACRO: article_text (eval (concat "*** More explanation coming" "\s"
":B_ignoreheading:\n:PROPERTIES:\n:BEAMER_env: ignoreheading\n:END:"))
{{{article_text}}}
