As far as I know, metadata is copyrighted.  I don't know the legal
particulars, but I think it would be wise to err on the side of caution
if you use metadata from a third party.  But if you have a known license
for the metadata, or if you're using your own, I don't see any reason
not to include them in the codebase.

Copyright is one of the reasons I did not (yet) include any testing code
and data with emms-info-native.  For testing I've used files from
Mutagen and also my own files tagged with data from MusicBrainz.  Both
should be ok as Mutagen is GPLv2 or later and MusicBrainz core data is
CC0, i.e. in public domain.  But I still need to prepare the files so
that they're suitable for redistribution, and also convert my ad hoc
tests to proper ERT tests.
