It's the former; there was discussion with Paramiko's maintainer about
a handover but it never materialized, so we went off on our own. I
expect it will replace Paramiko (re: mindshare) as we start to add
many long standing patches & new features.
I plan to support it long-term, albeit on a "Fabric's needs take
priority" basis. (Though I will have a hard time saying no to patches
that actually include docs + tests + are up-to-date + have a good
explanation of what the changes do...Fab-related or not.)
