Sounds like you don’t have gettext-devel installed.

My /usr/bin/gettextize belongs to gettext-devel-0.14.5-3

Probably :-)
Couldn’t someone make autogen.sh or configure fail explicitly when
gettext-devel is missing? Len doesn’t seem to be the first to stumble on
this implicit requirement.
