This method named Six Pass Pixel Building is used in TD renderer 2.0 and TD renderer 3.0 and is a competitor of FreeType rasterizer. I don't think there is a more accurate rasterization method known in the open source community, however if you find any leaks of the Microsoft renderer be sure to attempt to document some of the functionality of the rasterization method of the Microsoft renderer but not so close to the leaked code as to invoke copyright infringement.
