My plan was to have a little debconf setup a system-wide environment
variable setting configuration file.
The problem with a generic default is that two of the three major
common lisp applications in Debian relying on gcl need cltl1 mode.
There is always a conflict between the needs of the lisp programmer,
and the non-programmer user who just wants to build and use ready made
applications.
