OK, I guess, although I don't understand what libffi has to do with it.
Let me try to be clearer. I am hoping to write stuff like

(defun foo (&rest x) "some kind of computation on x here")

and then call foo with many arguments.
Perhaps I've misunderstood what this whole discussion is about;
certainly wouldn't surprise me. It's a low priority item at any rate.
