Just in case it's useful, there are steps to compile Gluster
from git source.  It's pretty easy, completely cut-n-paste instructions
style:

  http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/CompilingRPMS

Takes about 5 mins (if you do it a lot), or about 10 mins the
first run through for the yum dependency download.
