Gaius,

The build on MacOS X 10.3.9 (same as Thomas) seems to go just fine.

However, in the gm2/examples/hello directory:

[Ebola:gm2/examples/hello] lambert% cat Makefile.new

all: force
       gm2 -v -c -g -I. hello.mod
       gm2 -v -g -I. hello.mod

clean:
       $(RM) *.o a.out

force:

[Ebola:gm2/examples/hello] lambert% make -f Makefile.new
gm2 -v -c -g -I. hello.mod

I don't see ranlib anywhere in the commands.
