As you may know, "bl" is the PPC assembler mnemonic for branch-and-link. For reasons unknown, gcc is generating bad assembler, namely a branch to a location too far away.

I added "-Os" to CFLAGS and tried again. (Actually, I moved CFLAGS back to CC because it was being ignored after the penultimate git pull.) So now, I am rewarded with a previous problem using the version
2014-07-11 of libgm2 and version 2014-09-17 of gm2.
