No, there is no problem leaving a 5110 permanently connected to the charger.

If you observe the charging process, the 5110 will display "battery full"
when the battery is fully charged.  When the battery voltage drops below a
certain level, it will display "charging".  The 5110 internals therefore
cycle the battery appropriately.

I have several installations where the 5110 has been permanently connected
to the charger for years, and battery life has been better than when
manually plugged/unplugged.
