I found my fault: I mixed MSN's! Oh shi....!

Now ttyI1 accepts the call and I get the same messages
as you except for pppd[xxx]: pppd is started.

var/log/messages: (sender-PC)

Sep 27 16:58:43 rex2 isdnlog: Sep 27 16:58:43 Call to tei 64 from +49

/var/log/mgetty.log on the called PC:

09/27 14:50:34 yI1  waiting for ``CONNECT'' ** found **
09/27 14:50:34 yI1  send:
09/27 14:50:34 yI1  waiting for ``_'' ** found **

conn='64000/V110/9600', name='', cmd='/usr/sbin/pppd', user='/AutoPPP/'

Why ist user='/AutoPPP/'? When making a normal ISDN-call with
mgetty (no handy, no V110) I have user='gerlach' and pppd is
started after:

09/26 13:42:55 ##### data dev=ttyI1, pid=30392, caller='0', conn='64000/X.7
5', name='', cmd='/bin/login', user='gerlach'

Another thing what I don't understand: does the command :

   pppd call demon-gnokii

give a login prompt? The mgetty.login should make a login:

/etc/mgetty/login.config:
/AutoPPP/ -     a_ppp   /usr/sbin/pppd auth
*       -       -       /bin/login @

Another think I don't check:

/var/log/messages showed the first two tries:
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: sent [LCP ConfNak id=0xa <magic 0xe81dd77f>]
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: rcvd [LCP ConfNak id=0xa <magic 0xe81dd77f>]
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: Serial line is looped back.
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: sent [LCP TermReq id=0xb "Loopback detected"]
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: rcvd [LCP TermReq id=0xb "Loopback detected"]
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: sent [LCP TermAck id=0xb]
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: rcvd [LCP TermAck id=0xb]
Sep 27 16:42:10 rex2 pppd[8549]: Connection terminated.

.. but now any longer. Now I get chat[8864]: alarm (see above).

A third thing I don't check: Why does gnokii change the Link
/dev/gnokii -> /dev/ttyS1  to  -> /dev/pts/8 ?

When I change back /dev/gnokii -> /dev/ttyS1   the gnokiid doesn't
work any longer. Yesterday gnokiid worked *ONLY* with link
/dev/gnokii -> /dev/ttyS1. ... hmmm ... I am confused ...

your example shows user='/AutoPPP/', too. .... hmmm ... it
seems not be a fault ....

I was YOU! Gratulations!
