Nokia 3310 divert- Problems

Hello

I would like to divert call from my nokia 3310. In
your FAQ I read that I must use:

 echo "*21*number#G" | gnokii --keysequence

But then I do it that way, I always get:

GNOKII Version 0.6.7
Failed to press key: Command timed out.

Other commands like 

gnokii --identify

work fine.

Have you any idea to solve that problem?
