Oh, I know quite well that the foundational support is there (albeit,
non-portably).    The next step is actually _using_ that stuff to
optimize arch in particular.   And the next step after that is getting
people to want such a configuration.

Sure -- we're off in the realm of customized solutions, not portable ones.
