I think the table in section 13.1 should list some more detail:
In order to work with other developers, pretty soon you're going to
want to either share (multiple people have read/write access), or
publish (read only access) your archives. tla currently doesn't support
any sort of custom server,
because it can use any file oriented protocol. Specifically, you can
share archives using any of the following protocols.
Read Only Methods:
HTTP, rsync
Secure Read/Only
rsync over SSH, HTTPS
Read/Write Methods:
WebDAV, FTP, File sharing
Secure Read/Write Methods:
SFTP, WebDAV over SSL, some file sharing methods
This makes it relatively easy to setup a shared or published archive.
