Well you're right, but this is a bit of a dangerous thing -- because
it's _unlikely_ to conflict, it's easy to get away with using simple
paths in scripts, etc., which might end up doing the wrong thing
sometime in the future. [E.g. count all the shell scripts out there
that use `cmd $FILE' instead of `cmd "$FILE"', and break someday when
FILE contains whitespace.]
I presume with patches like Colin's (which I'm all for in general -- I
hate typing all those fq names), the danger perhaps becomes a bit
greater.
Of course, one can attack this problem by simply stressing in the
documentation the need to be careful when writing scripts &c.
