And tla supports it just fine. Your complaint was that it does not
support fuzzy merging for things which do not support fuzzy merging;
my response is "duh".

As has been said many times before, delta-compression is completely
orthogonal and involves no format changes to anything. I believe IBM
actually sell some storage devices which do it opportunistically for
all files, for the ultimate variety.
