Attached below is proced.el which allows one to operate on processes
like dired. I know that there is also the old package vkill.el.
However, when I tried to use it, it didn't work for me due to what
appeared to be some bugs in the code. Indeed, vkill.el was kind of
the starting point for proced.el, though proced.el ended up to be a
complete re-write. I also looked at hm--view-process, however, the
code appeared somewhat complicated to me, and I gave up with it.
(I hope I didn't overlook any other packages that do similar things.)

To avoid reinventing the wheel, proced.el uses some code from
dired.el. Overall, proced.el is not very fancy, but it works
reliably for me. proced-command-alist is the most important
customization point. Extra features for more sophisticated filtering
and sorting could be added to it (if there's a need for such

The code around the completing-read in proced-send-signal is ugly.
If you have a better idea to implement that, we could discuss it on
